Please help email cv?????????

im tryn to send an email with an attachment which is my cv.sounds simple?well not for me i emaild it to myself as i hadent done this before,but when i opened the attached the programme i used to write it came up,as in toolbars etc. i could change it from the email.is this meant to happen or what,it didnt look professional at all,and as this is a job application im worried.i know some of you will find it amusing i havent sent an e mail with attachment before but im learhing slowlybut surley!thanks a mill.xxxxxxxx
